Place and time of purchase: Tepoztlan, Morelos 2006
They say you can own a house if you buy these souvenir houses. I bought two and i am happy as long as i keep mine. They are made of 'thorns' that grow on the trunk of popoche tree as they call it in Mexico or in latin bombacopsis quinata. http://www.saudicaves.com/mx/paradise/poch_sm.jpg)
It was my first serious experience with hiking going up to the Tepozteco pyramid. This activity seems more of a ritual or a personal challenge than a mere weekend fun. I was more convinced about this as i saw many couples with their babies while I was feeling ashamed at the sight of this, since it was a big challenge trying to keep my steps balanced on on the slippery rocks to the top. On the way back, you can see people selling traditional handcraft like this little houses. There is an ex-convent with the entrance decorated with colorful grains of corn. In the main street you will also see the shop where they claim to take your aura's pictures( sadly i didnt go in, next time i will so as to prove if that sweet mexican was right when he told me my aura was blue) and no doubt you will encounter postcards with UFO's seen around the village.
